Southwest shows it has what it takes to compete in 62-49 loss at San Jose City
Los Angeles Southwest College was unable to recover from a second-quarter surge by San Jose and fell 62–49 on the road. After leading early, Southwest was outscored 21–10 in the second period, creating a gap that held through the remainder of the game.

| San Jose, CA. - LA Southwest opened the game with a 14–10 advantage after the first quarter, but San Jose shifted momentum in the second with a 21-point frame to take a 31–24 lead into halftime. The Cougars remained within striking distance through three quarters, trailing 44–35 entering the fourth. San Jose closed with an 18–14 final period to secure the win.
Destiny Hurt-Floyd led all scorers for Southwest with 20 points on 7-of-13 shooting, including four three-pointers. Rian Dillihunt added 20 points along with seven rebounds and 11 steals. Emaya Trahan contributed seven points, and Miranda Johnson scored one point off the bench. LA Southwest shot 30.5 percent from the field and 26.1 percent from three-point range. The Cougars finished with 27 total rebounds and 11 assists. San Jose's second-quarter surge proved to be the deciding stretch of the game. |
